Nungarin Harvest Festival
1st, 2nd
& 3rd October 2010
Nungarin celebrates their centennial year with a weekend full of
entertainment and fun. An opportunity for visitors and locals to enjoy and
catch up with friends. For Accommodation, Camping and Caravan sites available.

Commencing on Friday, 1st
October at 6.30pm
with a ‘curry night’ at the Nungarin Recreation Centre. This is
a fundraiser for the Nungarin Towns Panthers Football Club. The bar will be open
so you can enjoy a drink with your meal.
Saturday, 2nd
October at 12 noon
Celebrations continue with a light luncheon at the Recreation
Centre. People will have a chance to meet and chat before the launch at 11.30am
of “A Piece of String”- stories of the Nungarin District written by Maxine
Cornish.
Tracmach and 10th
Lighthorse
will be giving demonstrations at the Museum Saturday and Sunday.
The Nungarin Heritage Machinery & Army Museum will be open all weekend.
A pictorial history of
Nungarin 1910 - 2010 will be on display at the Alice Williams Memorial Building
(C.W.A.) in Railway Avenue October 2nd and 3rd. If you would like to add to our

Remarkable Pioneer Women
cut-outs wearing aprons depicting their contribution to the development of the
Nungarin district will be placed at intervals along Railway Avenue. This is a
project of the Country Women's Association, the first formed in Western
Australia in Nungarin in 1924.

Saturday Night, 2nd
October - Mangowine Concert –
a night of entertainment. Gates open at 4pm Local Country and Western
Band Olga and Tom Kittyea, will play until 6pm “The Fab Four” commence at
6.30pm. MC for the evening is Grant Woodhams MLA
Admission Prices
– Adults - $10,
Students - $5.00, Family Ticket - $25.00. VIP seating and Gourmet Hamper -
$100 per double (includes entry, but must be purchased in advance for catering
purposes). Fully licenced – no BYO. Take away meals
available, catered
by the Mukinbudin Ladies. Bring a chair and picnic rug. Free buses from
Nungarin and Merredin to the concert at Mangowine. Will leave Nungarin from the
Community Recreation Centre at 4pm and 4.30pm. Please phone Pam (08) 9041 1666
to book your seat and confirm time for the bus leaving from the Merredin Central Wheatbelt Visitors Centre.

October –
Our Harvest
Festival continues with the Blessing of the Header in the main street of
Nungarin, along with the Wheatbelt Markets. Come early to the Markets. Breakfast is served from the sausage sizzle stall in front of the Craft Shoppe.
A great family day with stalls the length of the main street and also in the
hall. Something for everyone. Plenty of food and drinks available, morning
teas and light lunches available at the Hall Café. Lunch also available at McCorrys Old Hotel. The book “A Piece of String” will also be available for
purchase at both the Concert on Saturday night and also at the Wheatbelt markets
on Sunday. You
can also take a free historical guided tour of Nungarin on the Nungarin
Community Bus.
Become part of the
"Celebration" and come dressed in costumes of the time.
